Those Greeks are so LAZY. (YAWN) That’s what some say, anyway. But we know where those people live, don’t we? We’ve glossed over them lightly already.
Organized by The Pontian Youth Union of Attika, under the auspices of the General Secretariat for Youth, was a display of the genocide of Pontian Greeks by the regime of Turkish leader, Kemal, during the early part of the 20th century, who had taken a keen interest in ethnic cleansing. You know, he wanted to homogenize his nation. Wipe away foreign cultures and influences.
It was a simple display, made from old photographs, music, and a brochure and CD, given to strangers. And the brochure had some vital information about this historical event that has been swept under the rug by many countries—not just Turkey.
Of the region by the Black Sea, the region of Greek legend and history for over 3,000 years, they say, is the region of “famous fables.” Prometheus, The Expedition of The Argonauts, The Golden Fleece, The Amazons, etc. As well as home to Diogenis, the Philosopher, and the historical kingdom of Mithridate. Along with all these world-renowned famous fables and people and places— Alongside them are the Pontian Greeks who for many years were almost erased by the “Historians of Today.”
Today, the youth said, May 19th, is the Remembrance Day of the Genocide of Greeks of Pontius. And these youth made their demands clear.

THE RECOGNITION FROM THE TURKISH GOVERNMENT OF CRIME OF GENOCIDE AND TO APOLOGIZE OFFICIALLY
THE DIRECT INTERVENTION FOR THE PROTECTION OF RELIGIOUS AND CULTURAL MONUMENTS IN PONTUS
So we shall see how much of a friend Turkey is to Greece. Will she continue to pretend that it didn’t happen? And keep her children in The Shelters of Ignorance? Or will she shed some light on her past, less than lovely deeds? And what kind of economic support can such a nation provide Greece today? How can she provide any support if she does not first cleanse herself?
